By using BillShield AI ("the Service"), operated at billshieldai.com, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Service Description

BillShield AI is an AI-powered tool that analyzes medical bills to identify potential billing errors, compares charges against Medicare reimbursement rates, and generates dispute letters. The Service is designed to help consumers understand their medical bills and advocate for fair pricing.

2. Not Medical or Legal Advice

Important: BillShield AI does not provide medical advice, legal advice, or professional billing advocacy services. Our analysis is based on publicly available Medicare pricing data and automated pattern detection. Results are informational and should be used as a starting point for your own review.

We do not guarantee the accuracy of any analysis or price comparison
Medicare rates are benchmarks, not definitive fair prices for all situations
Generated dispute letters are templates — review and customize them before sending
We are not responsible for the outcome of any dispute you file
For complex billing disputes, consider consulting a professional billing advocate or attorney

3. Accounts

You must create an account to use most features. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information and are responsible for all activity under your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to:

Only upload your own medical bills or bills you are legally authorized to review
Not use the Service for fraudulent purposes
Not attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service
Not upload bills belonging to others without their explicit consent
Not use generated letters to make knowingly false claims

5. Pricing and Payments

Free Plan: Limited to 1 bill scan per month. Error count is shown but full details are gated.

Personal Plan ($29/month): Unlimited scans, full analysis, dispute letter generation. Billed monthly via Stripe. Cancel anytime — access continues through the end of the billing period.

One-Time Audit ($49/bill): Single bill deep analysis with full report and dispute letter.

Prices may change with 30 days notice to existing subscribers. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your payment card information.

6. Refunds

If you are unsatisfied with the Service, contact us within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion. We do not refund for bills already analyzed, as the AI processing cost has been incurred.

7. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in the Privacy Policy.

You retain ownership of your medical bill data. By uploading a bill, you grant us a limited license to process the data for the purpose of providing the Service.

8. Accuracy Disclaimer

While we strive for accuracy, our analysis has inherent limitations:

Insurance rate benchmarks are based on national and state-level averages and may differ from your specific locality or risk profile
Savings estimates are based on publicly available rate data and common discount eligibility — actual savings depend on your specific circumstances
Rate comparisons use aggregated industry data and may not reflect real-time quotes from specific providers
AI extraction from document images may occasionally misread characters or amounts
Our analysis does not constitute insurance advice — consult a licensed agent for binding coverage decisions

We recommend verifying all figures in our analysis before submitting any dispute.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind
We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to the outcome of billing disputes
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim
We are not liable for any actions taken by healthcare providers, insurers, or collection agencies

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, analysis algorithms, and content, is owned by BillShield AI. Generated dispute letters are provided for your personal use — you may send them to billing departments but may not resell or redistribute them commercially.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, we will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of St. Charles County, Missouri.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify registered users of material changes via email.
